When I started my internship journey in the Philippines, I expected to learn about marketing, real estate and working abroad. What I didn't expect was how much life itself would become my greatest teacher. Now, as my internship comes to an end, this final blog feels less like a summary of tasks and more like a reflection on resilience, gratitude, and growth.

This experience was not without its challenges. And that's exactly why it was meaningful.

When Things Don't Go as Planned

Living abroad isn't just sunsets, new cultures, and exciting opportunities. There were moments when things genuinely went wrong. My wallet was stolen. I got sick with a stomach infection that is, unfortunately, common in parts of Asia. At one point, it became so serious that I had to be admitted to the hospital overnight due to dehydration.

Lying in a hospital bed far from home forces you to slow down and reflect. It made me realize how vulnerable you become when you're away from familiar systems, people and routines. But it also showed me how strong you can be when you're forced to rely on yourself and on others.

Strangely enough, I am grateful for these moments. They taught me patience, humility, and appreciation for health, safety and support.

Lessons I Couldn't Learn in a Classroom

These challenges taught me more than any lecture ever could. I learned that control is often an illusion, that plans can change in an instant and that growth doesn't come from avoiding discomfort, but from moving through it.

The Philippines taught me to be adaptable, calm under pressure and kinder to myself when things didn't go perfectly. I learned to focus on solutions instead of frustration and to accept that setbacks are part of the journey, not signs of failure.

Support Makes All the Difference

One thing I am deeply thankful for is the guidance and support I received during my internship. Even when personal challenges affected my energy or focus, I felt understood and supported. That made a huge difference.

Being well-guided doesn't mean everything is easy — it means you're not facing difficulties alone. That support allowed me to keep learning, contributing and growing, even during moments when things felt heavy.

More Than an Internship

Looking back, this experience was about so much more than work. It was about learning how to take care of myself in a foreign country, how to keep going when things get tough and how to stay grounded when life throws unexpected challenges your way.

I arrived in the Philippines as a student eager to learn. I leave as someone who is more resilient, more reflective and more confident in navigating uncertainty.

Grateful for the Journey

This is my final blog as an intern, but it doesn't feel like an ending. It feels like a transition. The lessons I learned here will stay with me long after I leave.

To the Philippines: thank you for challenging me.

To BedandGo: thank you for the guidance and trust.

And to myself: thank you for not giving up when things got hard.
